5/22 - T - IRAs 10
Heavy emphasis on leg drive at the catch/top of the stroke. Worked up to 3' pieces starting w/ 20-30 strokes at race pace. Flanagan went out during a 2' piece and he had to stop rowing immediately thereafter. It tears him apart inside but the search is on for another port. Smeglin is the prime candidate, Joe Lo is rowing w/ us tomorrow morn but he leaves next Wednesday. Brittny row for us at two seat. That was interesting. Right after she got in I almost crashed us into some fishermen. They're so odd. They just watch it happen, never saying a word. We came w/in 2 feet of their boat while checking it down and I never heard anything out of them. It's as if they think we'd do no damage if we hit them. What buffoons. Silent, looming boat of rower death. Well we didn't hit them and had some exciting pieces next to the lightweight women, although we consistently walked through them. Toe started to get sloppy at the end of practice. Must be sharp. Upper/mid back hurts from looking around very poorly. My glances were far from clean, quick, or effective. 5:30 AM tomorrow. If the pair doesn't make the cut they have the chance of being in our 4-. So w/ the search for another port as well things are crazy. Tomorrow we'll be racing our other boats training. Hope none of us seriously crash.
