5/18 - F - IRAs 5
Whew. Practice a few hours ago. Pretty much on our own. Dave was w/ the lightweight women in fours while we were out. We had a lot of drama today. Boat speed drama. At the top there was a very long talk about rigging, foot stretcher placement, and coming out of the water at the finish. We're all trying to adjust to each other and really struggling. Today definitely felt frustrated. We did some longer work at 3/4 press and random drills to work on holding the blades in the water longer & squeezing through the finish. We all snap out of the finish right away, whereas Flananagan rolls out of it and has a slower body over. He's right that longer is better, but Quigs has been rowing this way all season w/ Travis and I matching. We all have differing opinions and ideas to fix our problems. Some times I think we don't agree on if certain things are even problems. To look at the bright side, it's not as if we are all relearning to row. We could have all been switched to the opposite side.... Click can come w/ one minor adjustment. We'll find it. It's out there waiting for us. Waiting for us to push those puddles far, far away and get clean, smooth and slow up the slide. Run. I want it bad. Graceful, easy run. 3/4 press was at a 20. Attempted 10's at 22, 26, 30. All not very good. Tomorrow morning may be work at a 36 SR. Skip everything in between and go. Loosey goosey.
